Castlevania. If that's not enough for you, I think you may benefit from rethinking your life.

That would be a good review to get up on Flames Rising.

I agree... but your SOUL is what's at stake here.

Castlevania is food for your SOUL.

It would have been for me if the darn game actually worked. I had to stop and re-start the game I had FOUR TIMES before I gave up, which is death to the min-maxer that I am.

Ack, the memory makes me sad.

:(

No Castlevania-lovin' for me. Darnitall.

Though I personally will always be a Nintendo geek -- and likely would pick up the DS out of brand loyalty, if I picked up a portable -- I'd probably prefer to play the PSP, since the screen is almost 50% bigger than the DS. Of course, since that's a health related option, maybe I'd take the DS, since it'd have more games I'd be interested in (Yoshi Island, Metroid titles, etc.).

I'm also thinking of a portable movie player, so the PSP looks good for that, since I wouldn't want to carry two items.

Still, folks really seem to like the DS.

I'm a Nintendo loyalist when it comes to handhelds, and I do love my black DS.

The touch-screen interface is quite nifty, particularly on the DS's Zelda title - you trace out your movements and actions on the screen instead of using the directional pad and buttons. The two screens combine for a lot of viewable space, too.

The DS has a fairly deep library of games - it can play GBA cartridges as well as DS games.

I have the GBA Castlevania cartridge, and I could probably let you have it realllly cheap, 'cause I've never figured out how to play it. I suck at videogames...

Which one? I've got the Double Pack, which has Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow on it.

PSP. It's a beautiful machine with a depth of options that are worth exploring. the game library is really impressive. I'm currently playing my way through Final Fantasy Tactics, and have recently enjoyed Silent Hill, metal Gear Solid, Brave Story, Monster Hunters and Popolocrois. All were excellent. I use my PSP as both a music and movie player. It works very well as both. the selection of UMD movies are great, and most are affordable. The ability to watch media files onto the PSP memory card is even better. The internet browser comes in handy as well when I'm stuck without a laptop and need to send some email or check out a site.

Christ. I think I played through Tactics about three times on my DS.

In addition to the times I've played through it on the Playstation. Despite its flaws, it's a remarkable game.

I just went through the same decision process and settled on the DS. I didn't want a portable media player, and the game library on the DS struck me as more impressive. I read through a bunch of reviews and it seemed that the consensus was that the PSP had better hardware, but nobody was using it to make good games, while the DS has much better games. I bought the DS and I'm very happy with it.

I think it boils down to whether you want the pretty screen and portable media capabilities or not. Personally I think each device should do one thing well instead of trying to pack everything into a single device.
